ADC Stakeholders Meeting in Abuja Descends into Chaos
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja turned violent on Saturday when a group led by Tijani Mubarak stormed the venue armed with sticks.
The meeting, convened by election committee chairman Abubakar Adams Chika and secretary David Godwin, was meant to outline the electoral process for the party’s FCT senatorial contest.
Upon arrival, Mubarak confronted Chairman Chika over the refusal to honour an invitation to a private discussion, sparking a heated exchange that was captured on video and circulated online.
Reports indicate that Mubarak opposed the emergence of Ireti as the ADC’s candidate for the FCT senatorial seat, despite her having been declared the winner of the primary election.
Amaechi Positions Himself as Top ADC Presidential Aspirant for 2027
In a separate development, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi proclaimed himself the most qualified and electable presidential aspirant for the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Amaechi highlighted his extensive leadership background—including his tenure as Minister of Transportation—and his relative youth as advantages over other contenders.
The ADC presidential race also features former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar and former Northern Nigeria Development Company chief Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen.
When asked why the party should favour him, Amaechi pointed to his record of holding major leadership roles, arguing that this experience equips him to lead the ADC effectively.
