Labour Party Confirms Three Aspirants Have Bought 2027 Presidential Forms
Senator Nenadi Usman, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), announced that three aspirants have already purchased the party’s presidential nomination forms for the 2027 election. She added that the party is hoping for a consensus among the contenders.
Usman Urges Consensus and Fair Screening Process
Usman stressed that the Labour Party remains strong and united despite ongoing leadership disputes and controversies surrounding the sale of nomination forms. She affirmed that the party has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of Nigeria.
“We have decided as a party that our next flag bearer should come from the South. We are hoping for consensus, but whoever emerges will go through a thorough screening process. I assure Nigerians the primaries will be free and fair,” she said.
She also noted that the screening of aspirants for various elective positions on the Labour Party platform is progressing well, having started the previous day.
Dismissing suggestions of party weakness, Usman expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will uphold its earlier ruling on the leadership dispute, stating that the court cannot reverse its decision on tenure.
The chairman warned party members to be vigilant against fake nomination forms allegedly being distributed by unauthorized individuals. She recounted an incident where a man presented a form his wife had bought, which was not issued by the Labour Party.
Regarding the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman said she is not concerned, emphasizing that power belongs to God and that Nigerians will ultimately decide their leaders at the polls.
