The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, recently held a crucial meeting. He engaged with 85 All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly aspirants from Zamfara State. These individuals were not cleared during the party’s internal screening exercise.
This gathering was a key part of reconciliation efforts within the APC. The aim is to strengthen party unity as the 2027 general elections approach.
Call for Unity and Patience
Matawalle appealed to the aspirants. He urged them to remain calm, united, and dedicated to the party’s progress. This was despite the outcome of the screening process.
He assured them that their complaints would not be ignored. Steps are actively being taken to address their grievances, he confirmed. Matawalle stressed that the APC values fairness, justice, and equal opportunity for all members.
Responding to their concerns, Matawalle revealed that the party’s National Working Committee is already reviewing petitions. These were submitted by aggrieved members. He implored the aspirants to exercise patience. They should allow the party leadership to complete this crucial process.
The former Zamfara State governor highlighted a vital point. Internal disagreements must not weaken the APC in the state. This is especially true as preparations for the 2027 elections gain momentum. He emphasized that unity among members is critical for the party’s future success.

These included Bature Umar Sambo and Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya. Ibrahim Maigandi, the APC State Secretary, and Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC Auditor, also participated. Other prominent party stakeholders joined the discussions.
