The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed Senator Ireti Kingibe’s move to their party, praising her decision to leave the Labour Party. ADC’s National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi described the Federal Capital Territory senator’s defection as a courageous demonstration of integrity.
Abdullahi noted that Senator Kingibe could have easily joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but deliberately chose an alternative path. He emphasized that her decision stood out during a period when many politicians opt for convenient alliances.
“Senator Kingibe’s choice reflects remarkable courage and principle,” Abdullahi stated publicly. “At a time when boarding the dominant party’s train would have been simpler, she charted an independent course.”
The ADC spokesperson hinted at impending political shifts. He suggested additional high-profile defections would soon follow Kingibe’s move. “Nigerians should watch closely. More developments are coming,” Abdullahi declared. “Na small e remain.”
Official Confirmation of Party Switch
Senator Kingibe’s media aide Kennedy Mbele confirmed her transition. He described her departure from Labour Party to ADC as complete. Mbele highlighted her historic position as ADC’s only serving senator.
“This bold move establishes Senator Kingibe as the sole senator representing the ADC,” Mbele noted. Her registration ceremony will include senior party officials, council election candidates, supporters, and journalists.
