Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory in the Senate, has officially switched political allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The defection was confirmed through a Wednesday statement issued by Kennedy Mbele, Senator Kingibe’s media aide. Mbele clarified that this move terminates her membership with the Labour Party.
According to the announcement, Senator Kingibe’s ADC registration ceremony will feature prominent attendees. Senior party figures, ADC candidates for February’s FCT council elections, supporters, and media representatives are expected.
Mbele emphasized the significance of this political shift: “Kingibe’s bold step makes her ADC’s sole serving senator. This strengthens our vibrant opposition party.”
