Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, has denied allegations that the party uses thugs against African Democratic Congress (ADC) members. This rebuttal comes after ADC’s National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi accused the APC of orchestrating violent attacks on opposition members.
Abdullahi claimed these assaults follow a pattern in APC-controlled states. He stated the ADC would petition international bodies like the ECOWAS Court of Justice regarding their members’ treatment.
Zazzaga firmly rejected these accusations. He urged ADC leaders to examine their own history with political violence. The APC chieftain emphasized his party does not suppress opposition groups.
“Review the political background of some ADC leaders,” Zazzaga stated. “They are known professionals in using thugs during political activities.”
He continued: “We don’t use thugs. Our approach is to advise them towards education. The ADC may blame the ruling party for their own actions. But these claims are false.”
Zazzaga questioned ADC’s lack of political growth. He linked it to their leaders’ controversial pasts. “Nigerians know ADC leaders and their records,” he noted. “These histories directly impact the party’s development.”
The APC leader concluded that ADC’s reputation deters potential supporters. “Their past actions explain why Nigerians hesitate to join them,” Zazzaga added.
