Hollywood is in shock. Renowned film director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, have died. The couple was found deceased in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14. Officials are investigating the incident as an apparent double homicide.
The grim discovery was made by their daughter, Romy Reiner. She found her parents’ bodies and promptly alerted the police.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) quickly responded to the report. Upon arrival, they confirmed that the filmmaker and his wife were deceased. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) subsequently joined the scene to commence their investigation.
Authorities are treating the deaths as a double homicide. Initial reports suggest both victims died from apparent stab wounds. Officials have only described the incident as a “family incident.”
The Reiner family has issued a statement through Variety. They requested privacy during this difficult period of mourning. “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the statement read. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss. We ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
