Taiwo Gbamila, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on multimedia, has made serious allegations. He claims two commissioners are sabotaging the governor’s efforts. Gbamila named Abiola Olawoye, Commissioner for Infrastructure, and Wunmi Isaac, Commissioner for Finance. He stated they obstruct media aides from showcasing Aiyedatiwa’s achievements.
Allegations Follow Commissioner Olawoye’s Attack
Gbamila’s accusation came as a direct response to statements made by Commissioner Olawoye. Olawoye reportedly attacked the governor’s media aides. This occurred during an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in Akure last Friday. During that meeting, Olawoye allegedly accused the media team of neglecting their duty. He claimed they failed to promote his ministry’s ongoing projects.
Infrastructure Commissioner Inaccessible, Hindering Project Showcase
Gbamila shared his views in a widely circulated video. He revealed that Commissioner Olawoye has been largely inaccessible since his appointment. “We genuinely do not understand Commissioner Olawoye’s issue with the governor’s media aides,” Gbamila stated. “He continues to disparage us unfairly.”
Gbamila highlighted his own commitment. “You (Olawoye) were not part of the campaign effort. Many of us worked hard for Aiyedatiwa’s governorship. Yet, we all embraced and celebrated your appointment as commissioner.”
He further explained the core problem. “Olawoye has actively frustrated our attempts. We aim to properly showcase Mr. Governor’s ongoing projects to the public. His actions prevent us from doing so.”
Gbamila recounted a specific instance. “The Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Ebenezer Adeniyan, appointed me as a committee chairman. Our task was to identify and showcase the governor’s works. Commissioner Olawoye, on multiple occasions, blocked our access to project sites.”
He emphasized the vital role of Olawoye’s ministry. “Many of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s activities involve the Infrastructure Ministry. We called Commissioner Olawoye numerous times. He never answered our calls. He also ignored messages, even those sent by the CPS.”
Finance Commissioner Accused of Withholding Funds
Gbamila extended his criticism to the Commissioner for Finance. “Both you, Olawoye, and the Commissioner for Finance have waged war against the media aides. You are directly undermining Governor Aiyedatiwa’s government.”
He detailed the financial struggles. “The Commissioner for Finance has refused to release running grants for the media unit. This situation has persisted for nine months. We are suffering in silence. Despite this, you both continue to blame us for issues you created.”
Gbamila praised the Chief Press Secretary. “The CPS, Ebenezer Adeniyan, has been instrumental in calming us. He assures us that these issues will be resolved peacefully. He often uses his personal influence. The CPS sources funds elsewhere to ensure our work gets done. This is necessary because the Commissioner for Finance withholds grants. She does so due to what appears to be petty issues.”
