The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) received important advice today. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo offered this strategic counsel. The NWC delegation was led by National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
The PDP NWC made a consultative visit to Obasanjo’s residence. The meeting took place in Abeokuta, Ogun State. During their visit, Obasanjo gave his counsel. He also commended the current leadership’s work. He noted their efforts to stabilize and reposition the party.

Obasanjo Urges Discipline and Steadfastness
Obasanjo praised all actions taken by the NWC. He urged the committee to remain steadfast in its mission. He also stressed the importance of instilling discipline within the party. Obasanjo stated, “Anyone who wants to belong to a political party must strictly follow its rules and regulations.”
“Things are not beyond repair,” Obasanjo declared. He encouraged the committee, saying “Soldier on…You are doing very well.” He advised them to continue their work diligently and with tact.
He emphasized the need for a strong opposition. This opposition must also be focused in any democracy. Obasanjo charged the NWC with a key responsibility. They must ensure the nation’s interest remains paramount.
Nigeria faces significant challenges today. The former President highlighted this. All political actors must play constructive roles. They should always prioritize the country’s interest.
Obasanjo offered his vast experience. He also shared his political insights with the leadership. He affirmed his readiness to provide guidance whenever needed.
Obasanjo also expressed concern about the Federal Government’s direction. He stated it “cannot take Nigeria anywhere good.”
PDP NWC Expresses Gratitude
The Party’s National Chairman responded to Obasanjo’s words. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki expressed deep gratitude. He spoke on behalf of the entire NWC.
“Your continued support and wisdom mean a great deal to us, Sir,” Turaki stated.
Turaki added, “Your advice and counsel are always very helpful. We will rely on them. We are working tirelessly to rebuild and unify our party.” He further explained, “We came here specifically to tap into your experience. We also wanted your invaluable perspective on the party’s future and the state of our nation.”
Turaki assured the former President of the NWC’s commitment. Under his leadership, the NWC is dedicated to several goals. These include maintaining internal peace and promoting genuine reconciliation. They are also preparing the party to meet Nigerians’ expectations.
Key Figures in the PDP Delegation
The NWC delegation included several prominent figures. Among them was Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT). Former Plateau Governor Jonah Jang was also present. So was former Niger State Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu. Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, the PDP Candidate in Ekiti State, joined them. The entourage also comprised other NWC members. Prominent party leaders from the South West and across the country completed the delegation.
