Deontay Wilder, a former WBC heavyweight champion, has voiced strong opinions. He suggests the upcoming fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul might be “scripted.” This claim has sparked significant discussion ahead of the highly anticipated bout.
Wilder shared his views with FightHub TV. He spoke just days before the December 19 showdown. The event takes place at the Kaseya Centre in Miami. Wilder openly questioned the true nature of the fight. It pits two-time unified champion Joshua against YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul.
For Jake Paul, this fight represents another major move. He previously shocked the boxing world in 2024. That year, Paul defeated retired heavyweight legend Mike Tyson. However, Wilder sees Joshua as a far greater threat. He views fighting an active, elite boxer like Joshua as a new level of danger.
Wilder stated, “In my opinion, I think it’s scripted a little bit.” He cited the weight difference as a reason. Also, Joshua is an active fighter. Wilder added, “This is going to be the first time we see Paul fighting an active fighter.”
He continued, “We’ve seen him with Mike Tyson. That was all fun, that was cute. But now, you’re dealing with a real professional.” Wilder concluded, “So we’ll see how it ends up.”
This bout is predicted to be a huge commercial success. Both Joshua and Paul are expected to earn significant sums. Reports suggest they will take home at least $40 million each.
The fight is scheduled for eight rounds. Boxers will use 10-ounce gloves. Strict regulations are in place for Joshua’s weight. He must not exceed 245 pounds on fight night.
