This request appears to contradict FIFA’s directive. The global body requires clubs to release players for AFCON by Monday, December 15.

Despite FIFA’s clear position, Porto is exploring options. They aim to retain the Nigerian international until after the important Cup tie.

Sanusi has battled injuries in recent months. Still, he remains Nigeria’s first-choice left-back. He is expected to play a vital role in the team’s AFCON campaign.

Lookman, 27, is set to feature in Atalanta’s festive charity fixture. This game is against Cagliari at the New Balance Arena.
