The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has developed an affection for his “captor.” This assertion came from Ini Ememobong, the party’s factional National Publicity Secretary. He made the statement on Thursday during a Channels Television appearance.
Ememobong expressed sympathy for Governor Fubara’s past experiences. However, he warned the governor against misplacing blame for his political difficulties.
“I recall a journalist asking Governor Bala Mohammed about the party’s actions during convention preparations,” Ememobong stated. “He clearly said we needed to allow Fubara space; he had been through a lot. So, you cannot simply blame others for your own choices and oversights.”
He continued, “We sympathise with Siminalayi Fubara. This situation suggests Stockholm syndrome. A captive has fallen for a captor. He struggles to identify the true source of his problems.”
“However, we disapprove of this conscious amnesia,” Ememobong added. “He selectively attributes blame. He knows where his problems began. He also knows where they continue. When he approached the court regarding defection, he understood the truth. He should articulate it.”
Ememobong concluded, “Therefore, his deflection raises questions. Is he placing the blame where it rightly belongs?”
