Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a lawyer for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), criticized South-East Senators. He noted their unsettling silence. This occurred during Reno Omokri’s ambassadorial screening. Omokri is a notable supporter of President Bola Tinubu.
Ejiofor posted his concerns on X on Friday. He warned Senators might lose their seats in the 2027 general elections. This applies if they fail to oppose Omokri’s confirmation.
He further cautioned that lawmakers’ political futures depend on this decision. Voters will decide at the polls. This will happen should they allow the former presidential aide to pass screening.
Ejiofor Delivers a Strong Warning
He wrote: “If Reno Omokri passes this screening, 2027 will be a political judgment day for all Igbo Senators.” He added, “They must be retired home.”
The lawyer stated that the screening’s outcome serves as a test. It gauges the political courage of the region’s representatives. Its results will reveal their commitment.
He believes if Omokri is confirmed, voters should prepare. They must use their ballots. This action should send every South-East Senator “home.” This will occur during the next election cycle.
Ejiofor also mentioned mobilizing people in the region. He urged them to prepare their voter cards. The 2027 elections are crucial. They will determine if Senators deserve another term. He declared:
“There is, after all, a threshold to cowardice. Enough, quite frankly, should be enough.”
