Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has earned significant recognition. He is among the Premier League’s most creative players this season. Statistics platform WhoScored released new rankings. Iwobi secured the fifth spot in this creativity list.
Iwobi has created 23 scoring chances for Fulham. This makes him the club’s most productive player in the final third. Only four other players across the entire league currently rank higher than him.
Top Creative Players in the Premier League
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes tops the list. He boasts an impressive 40 key passes. Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai follows closely with 28. Arsenal’s Declan Rice is third, with 27 key passes. Nottingham Forest youngster Elliot Anderson sits just above Iwobi with 25.
Iwobi’s sharp play with the ball leads to direct goal contributions. He has scored two goals this term. He also provided two assists in 15 league matches. His influence at Craven Cottage has grown significantly. This began after his €25.7 million transfer from Everton two years ago. Marco Silva now views him as a core player for Fulham.
Last season was his best Premier League campaign to date. He scored nine goals and provided six assists for Fulham. His confidence and maturity continue this season. He is also expected to play a leading role for Nigeria. This will be at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Iwobi and the Super Eagles for AFCON 2025
Iwobi has earned 86 caps for the Super Eagles. He has scored 10 goals for his country. He is tipped to make the final squad for the AFCON. Club teammates Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze are also expected to join him.
Nigeria will compete in Group C at the tournament. Their opponents are Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Super Eagles open their camp in Egypt on December 10. An unofficial friendly against the hosts is set for December 16.
The team’s first match is on December 23. They will play Tanzania in Fès. Nigeria faces Tunisia on December 27. This will be their key group fixture. The group stage concludes against Uganda on December 31.
