Sevilla striker Akor Adams has recorded an unexpected statistic this season. He now leads Europe’s major leagues in offside calls. This highlights his aggressive attacking style.
The 24-year-old Super Eagles forward has been flagged offside 19 times in La Liga. This occurred over 757 minutes across 13 appearances, including seven starts. This figure places him ahead of Kylian Mbappé. Mbappé has been caught offside 16 times for Real Madrid. Remarkably, Mbappé also leads the scoring charts with 16 goals in 16 matches.
Adams’ offside tally of 19 is matched by only one other player in Europe. Fiorentina forward Moise Kean also has 19 offsides in Serie A. However, Kean achieved this over 1,157 minutes from 13 starts. Other notable figures include Deniz Undav with 11 in the Bundesliga. Evanilson of Bournemouth has 12 in the Premier League. Mohamed Kader Meite recorded six in Ligue 1.

Adams’ Attacking Contributions
While these statistics highlight Adams’ aggressive positioning, his attacking returns have been modest. He often plays on the shoulder of defenders.
This season, Adams has scored two goals and provided one assist. He has registered 14 efforts on goal, with five on target. His last goal came in early October. It was during a 4-1 victory over Barcelona. He has now experienced a seven-match scoring drought.
Sevilla’s Continued Trust and International Call-Up
Despite his recent goal drought, Sevilla continues to place trust in Adams. They expect him to lead their attacking line. He played the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Valencia. Adams remains a central part of the club’s plans ahead of the winter break.
Adams’ club development has also boosted his international standing. He has scored twice in his first four caps for Nigeria. Furthermore, he earned a spot in Eric Chelle’s provisional squad. This squad will compete in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Adams is set for his final Sevilla appearance of the year. They will host Oviedo on Sunday. Afterwards, he will join the Super Eagles. This marks his first major international tournament.
Super Eagles Journey and World Cup Disappointment
The striker has openly expressed his disappointment. He missed the 2026 World Cup. Nigeria lost to DR Congo in the play-off final last November. Adams received his first senior call-up in October. This was for qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin. He scored on his debut after coming off the bench.
Adams scored Nigeria’s opening goal in the semi-final win against Gabon. However, his outing against DR Congo in Rabat was frustrating. He entered that match early due to Victor Osimhen’s injury.
