Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State stresses the importance of genuine reconciliation. He believes it is crucial for the state’s development, growth, and overall progress.
Speaking on Sunday, Governor Eno addressed the 24th Eket Field Annual Convention of The Apostolic Church. He urged citizens to abandon hatred. He also encouraged them to move past old grievances.
During the service, Eno emphasized that human beings are not perfect. He noted that God forgives human sins. Therefore, he argued, people should also forgive each other.
“We are not perfect,” he stated. “However, God’s love has granted us the goodwill of the people. As true Christians, we must learn to forgive and reconcile easily. This is for our collective good.”
The governor then urged everyone to leave the past behind. He explained his personal approach: “I learn from the past. I forgive and move on. But I will not allow you to repeat a mistake.”
“Forgiveness is paramount in my life,” Governor Eno declared. “It has greatly benefited our state. Let us all embrace this virtue. We must learn to let things go for our common good and progress.”
He warned that an “eye for an eye” mentality blinds a community. It ultimately leaves everyone in darkness.
“If God, by His grace, elevates you,” he continued, “do not victimize others. Instead, thank God. Bring everyone together through reconciliation. I have personally learned to reconcile with all individuals. This applies regardless of their personality or differences.”
Governor Eno also thanked the church. He praised their fervent prayers and unwavering support. This support was crucial during his 2023 election campaign. It continues to aid his administration’s success.
