The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has suspended three national officers amid allegations of misconduct, financial misappropriation, and abuse of office. Party spokesperson Araba Aiyenigba confirmed the immediate suspensions in an official statement released on Thursday.
The National Working Committee (NWC) reached this decision during its October 23, 2025 meeting at SDP’s Abuja headquarters. According to Aiyenigba, the disciplinary action complies fully with the party’s constitution.
“The NWC invoked constitutional provisions to suspend these officers,” the statement declared. “This follows prima facie evidence of serious misconduct and financial violations.” The suspended officials include:
• Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam (National Chairman)
• Mr. Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu (National Youth Leader)
• Mr. Clarkson Nnadi (National Auditor)
The suspensions resulted from a Disciplinary Committee report and subsequent White Paper. These documents detailed the allegations against the officers. The NWC examined their findings before taking action.
Intruder Incident at Party Secretariat
During the same meeting, the NWC addressed a security breach at SDP’s headquarters. Unauthorized individuals forcibly entered the Abuja secretariat on July 28, 2025.
“Law enforcement arrested the intruders with stolen documents,” the party stated. “They possessed sensitive materials taken from our offices.” Those detained included several party members now facing criminal charges.
The SDP pledged to implement all White Paper recommendations. This aims to restore integrity and internal discipline within the party. Leadership emphasized commitment to constitutional governance amid ongoing challenges.
