FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared his firm resolve to remain a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He vowed not to be forced out by anyone.
During the 104th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Sunday night, the Minister asserted his status. He claimed to be among the founding members who established the party. Wike accused some current members of trying to destroy the PDP through illegal actions and deceit.
Wike also highlighted that certain prominent leaders within the party achieved their positions after previously failing in other political organizations.
“I have been with this party since its formation in 1998,” Wike stated. He questioned, “How can people who met me already established in my own ‘house’ now try to expel me?” He added firmly, “I will never permit that.”
Wike then challenged, “Ask Bala Mohammed which party he represented as a senator. Ask Seyi Makinde; he was with the SDP and did not succeed there.” He criticized, “Individuals join, become governors, then start dictating. They try to oust those who made sacrifices from the very beginning. We will not let them destroy our party.”
Wike recounted his political journey. He rose from council chairman to governor, all under the PDP banner. He emphasized the importance of loyalty. Wike stressed that opportunism should never supersede genuine commitment.
“I contested and won elections under the PDP,” he declared. “Both for council chairman and governorship. My loyalty runs deep. I have consistently paid my dues to this party.”
