Obidi quickly offered an explanation for her actions. She stated the performance was her unique way of honoring Fela. She explained her choice of dance reflected the late musician’s known appreciation for bold expression and lively women. According to her, the act aimed to mirror the vibrant spirit associated with Fela’s life and music.
Furthermore, Korra Obidi mentioned that Fela’s son, Seun Kuti, accepted her gesture during her visit. She claimed he saw it as a fitting tribute to his iconic father’s style.

Public Reactions and Social Media Outcry
Despite Korra Obidi’s explanation, many online users condemned her for dancing in such a solemn location. Comments poured in, reflecting a mix of anger and mild defence.
One user, Thabosslady, commented: “This tribute doesn’t fit at all. Some places require calm, not dance.” Opejayek added: “Korra always finds a way to trend. But this particular act was unnecessary.”
Amandaoko echoed the sentiment, stating: “You truly crossed a line with this one. Fela loved energy, yes. But doing this on his grave feels very strange.”
