A former Jehovah’s Witness member recently disclosed serious repercussions. These consequences affect members who accept blood transfusions.
The Stance on Blood Transfusions
The individual, known as @carrotxbt on X, shared her past experiences. While practicing the faith, she carried a special card. This card instructed medical staff to withhold blood transfusions. It specified that she preferred death over receiving blood.
She noted that the group’s profound psychological effects often become clear post-departure.
Strict Social Repercussions
Accepting a blood transfusion leads to severe social ostracism. Members are disfellowshipped from the organization. They also face isolation from family, friends, and their congregation.
These individuals are often rendered outcasts. Parents might expel them from their homes.
@carrotxbt also mentioned identical penalties. These apply to members marrying Christians from other denominations.
She recounted her personal journey, stating:
“Throughout my life, I carried a card. It specified that should I need a blood transfusion after an accident, I preferred to die. The extent of psychological harm only becomes clear after leaving the organization. An individual accepting blood is disfellowshipped. All former acquaintances cease communication. If living with parents, they could be disowned and evicted. Marrying someone from another Christian denomination incurs the same severe outcome. This religious doctrine deeply impacted my family. I eventually chose to leave.”
This disclosure follows a recent online discussion. It concerned Aunty Esther, a current member. She declined a blood transfusion during her cancer battle.
Understanding Jehovah’s Witness Beliefs
Jehovah’s Witnesses are a Christian denomination. Their origins trace back to the Adventist movement. This movement began in the late 1800s in the United States.
