Ancelotti spoke to Brazilian broadcaster Sportv. He acknowledged Morocco’s strong performance in the last World Cup. This group presents early challenges for his team. He cautioned against underestimating any opponent. Ancelotti called Scotland ‘a solid team, very solid’ and predicted a ‘pretty difficult’ match.
Brazil begins its campaign against Morocco on June 13. They will play Haiti six days later. Their final group match is against Scotland on June 24. Ancelotti stressed the importance of a strong start. He wants his team to set the tone early. ‘We have to prepare well and try to win the group,’ he stated.
The Seleção has faced a turbulent period since Qatar. They are now on their fourth coach in that time. A stark reminder of their struggles came in March. They lost 4-1 to world champions Argentina in a qualifier.
Brazil draws confidence from history. They previously met Morocco and Scotland at the 1998 World Cup. Brazil beat Morocco 3-0 and Scotland 2-1. They reached the final but lost 3-0 to host nation France. Six years later, Brazil famously defeated Haiti 6-0 in Port-au-Prince. Stars like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho played in that match.
