Former United States President Donald Trump received a significant honour. He was awarded the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize. This presentation occurred during the official draw for the 2026 World Cup. FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised Trump’s efforts. Infantino specifically highlighted his role in fostering global stability.
Mr. Trump accepted a medal and stood beside a large trophy. President Infantino then read from the award citation. He commended Trump’s leadership. The former American leader described the honour as a personal milestone. Trump addressed delegates and guests at the ceremony. He stated, “This is truly one of the great honours of my life.”
Trump further claimed his administration prevented significant global conflicts. “We saved millions of lives,” he asserted. He cited the Congo as an example. There, 10 million deaths were rapidly approaching. Trump added, “We also stopped wars from happening with India and Pakistan, just before they started.”
The former President also congratulated Infantino. He praised FIFA’s commercial success for the expanded World Cup. “Gianni has done an incredible job,” Trump stated. “You have set a new record on ticket sales.” He called it “a nice tribute to you and the game of football, or as we call it soccer.” The numbers achieved were “beyond what we thought possible,” Trump concluded.
Trump then reflected on his first year back in office. He told the audience the United States had regained its world stage prominence. “The world is a safer place now,” he declared. “The USA was not doing well a year ago. But now we are the hottest country in the world,” Trump added.
President Infantino responded by praising Trump. He also outlined FIFA’s goal to foster international unity via sport. “We want to see hope,” Infantino stated. “We want to see unity. We want to see a future.” He affirmed, “This is what we want from a leader. You definitely deserve the first FIFA Peace Prize.”
