Presidential aide Daniel Bwala defended President Bola Tinubu. He stated that public calls for Tinubu’s resignation are baseless. These demands stem from increasing bandit attacks. Bwala asserted they lack constitutional reality.
Bwala emphasized that criticism alone is insufficient. It does not warrant a legitimate resignation demand.
These statements were made on Channels Television. Bwala spoke during the Morning Briefing interview.
He clarified that security challenges exist. Such issues do not automatically mean leadership failure.
Bwala Clarifies Why Tinubu’s Resignation Demands Are Unjustified
Bwala noted that facing a problem is not the problem itself. Every nation encounters security issues. This includes highly developed countries.

He cited higher crime rates in parts of the United States. These crises do not always lead to presidential resignation calls. He drew a parallel to Nigeria’s situation.
In a democracy, citizens voice opinions freely. This includes demands for a leader’s exit.
However, Bwala stressed a key point. These demands must align with constitutional procedures.
He urged those demanding Tinubu’s resignation to act. They must initiate the proper process. This applies if they deem their call legitimate.
Bwala called it ‘laziness.’ Government officials should not be swayed by mere public frustration. Such expressions are common.
Bwala’s Stance on Jonathan’s Resignation Differs from Tinubu’s Current Situation
Tinubu himself demanded ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s resignation in 2014. This followed the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction. When questioned on this, Bwala argued the situations differ significantly.
He asserted the Jonathan administration lacked solutions. They were also in ‘denial’ regarding the kidnapping.
Tinubu’s demand came months post-abduction. Bwala maintained his position. He stated, ‘Yes, it was a legitimate call then. Now, it is not legitimate.’
