The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has again dismissed reports. These reports suggest the party has chosen a candidate for the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The party firmly stated that its flagbearer would emerge through a transparent primary election. This process will be conducted by the party in due course.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, addressed the reports on Sunday. He urged all aspirants to strictly follow the party’s already released guidelines, instructions, and timetable.
Abdullahi described the circulating reports as “false and misleading.” He added that they are “not traceable to any official ADC communication channel.”
He further affirmed, “The African Democratic Congress wishes to reiterate our earlier position. Videos and social media posts claiming the party has ‘picked’ a candidate are false and should be disregarded.”
Abdullahi clarified that a timetable for the primaries has been widely publicized. This process will elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2026 governorship election in Osun. “All aspirants are urged to strictly adhere to these guidelines,” he emphasized.
He concluded by stressing the party’s dedication to internal democracy. “For the avoidance of doubt, the ADC remains committed to the highest standards of internal democracy. This is anchored on a free, fair, and transparent electoral process,” Abdullahi stated.
