A disappearance in Michigan has turned into a tragic homicide case. Rebecca Park, 22 and 39 weeks pregnant, was found deceased. Her biological mother and stepfather now face charges in connection with her death. Authorities located her body on November 25 in the Huron-Manistee National Forest. This area was close to her mother’s residence in Boon Township. A significant concern for investigators persists. Rebecca’s unborn baby was not discovered at the scene.

Parents Face Grave Allegations
The Michigan Department of Attorney General issued an official statement. Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and her husband, Brad Bartholomew, 47, were arrested on Tuesday. They face multiple grave charges. These include first-degree murder, torture, and assault resulting in the death of a pregnant individual. Brad Bartholomew also received a habitual-offender notice. This legal action could lead to a life sentence.
During a court appearance, prosecuting attorney Johanna Carey described the events. She stated the couple lured Park to their home. They then reportedly forced her into a vehicle. The pair drove her into a wooded area behind the house. Prosecutors allege the attack occurred there. The suspects then abandoned her body, prompting a widespread search. Carey told the 84th District Court in Wexford County: “This is, frankly, evil personified.” Both suspects are held without bail at the Wexford County Jail. They are forbidden from contacting each other.
Additional Arrests in Connection
The investigation expanded earlier this week. Park’s half-sister, Kimberly Park, was detained by investigators. Her fiancé, Richard Lee Falor, a convicted sex offender, was also arrested. Kimberly faces charges. These include tampering with evidence and lying to a police officer. She also faces a false felony report charge. Her bond was set at $750,000 cash. Falor was charged with two counts of methamphetamine delivery. He could face life imprisonment if convicted. His bail was fixed at $1 million cash.
Conflicting Narratives and Unresolved Questions
Before Park’s body was located, relatives provided inconsistent accounts of her last known whereabouts. Cortney initially claimed she was the last person to see her daughter. Rebecca reportedly left in a heavily-tinted black car. The driver remained unidentified. Detectives later discovered Park’s mobile phone. It was found on a rough path near the home. Family members also stated Park visited a hospital. She feared early labor the day before her disappearance. Medical staff reportedly confirmed she was one centimeter dilated. Her biological father joined search efforts. He helped in discovering her remains in the forest.
Prosecutors confirm the investigation is still ongoing. The search for Park’s missing baby continues. Carey described the situation as “a truly horrific homicide.” She added, “A young woman and her unborn child endured unimaginable suffering.” Carey clarified, “These remain allegations until proven in court.” She concluded, “The evidence reflects a disturbing level of callousness. We look forward to presenting the full facts in court.”
