The Northern Elders Unity Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised serious allegations against Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and his political allies. The group claims they are actively working to destabilize the party ahead of its critical National Convention.
In a strongly worded communiqué following their 18th General Meeting, the elders condemned what they described as desperate attempts to derail the November 15-16 convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. They simultaneously reaffirmed unwavering confidence in PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Iliya Umar Damagum.
Forum National Secretary Abbas Sadauki stated their commitment to party unity remains absolute. “No amount of political intimidation, blackmail, or falsehood will prevent the successful convention in Ibadan,” Sadauki declared.
The Forum accused certain National Working Committee members of collaborating with external forces to undermine the PDP from within. Sadauki characterized those attempting to sabotage the convention as “political jokers and predators” serving anti-party interests.
He issued a stern warning about their alleged activities: “Their unholy alliance with enemies of progress will culminate in political disgrace and regret.” The elders specifically linked the internal turmoil to Wike’s political influence and personal ambitions.
Expressing full solidarity with the current leadership, the Forum commended Damagum and loyal stakeholders for steadfastly steering the party toward unity. They emphasized this stability is crucial for PDP’s revival ahead of the 2027 general elections.
