The Obidient Movement has officially distanced itself from reports suggesting an endorsement of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo for a second term. Instead, the Movement reaffirmed its support for Labour Party candidate George Moghalu in the upcoming November 8 governorship election.
In a statement released by National Coordinator Yunusa Tanko, the Movement described the claims of endorsing Soludo as fraudulent and unauthorized. The statement emphasized, “The Obidient Movement remains committed to its principles of integrity and transparency, and we have not endorsed any candidate other than Mr. George Moghalu, who was endorsed by Peter Obi.”
Movement Reiterates Support for Moghalu
Yunusa Tanko clarified that the Movement’s support is based on Moghalu’s alignment with the principles of good governance and accountability. He stated, “Our support is solely for candidates who demonstrate a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. Any claims suggesting otherwise are false and should be disregarded by the public.”
Movement’s Independence and Mission
Yunusa emphasized that the Obidient Movement remains an independent entity focused on promoting good governance and transparency across Nigeria. He added, “Our support for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election was based on his proven track record and vision for national transformation. We continue to uphold these standards in all our engagements.”
He also warned that any individual or group claiming to endorse other candidates does so in a personal capacity and not on behalf of the Obidient Movement. This clarification aims to prevent misinformation and maintain the Movement’s credibility.
