A young woman from Egypt faces a difficult family situation. Her brother rejected her ₦50,000 contribution for his wife’s medical care. He insisted on receiving between ₦500,000 and ₦1 million. This expectation stemmed from her “working abroad” status.
She is the youngest of seven siblings. Her brother urgently requested funds for his wife’s hospital visit. She sent what she could, despite her limited income.
Brother’s Exorbitant Financial Request
Her brother dismissed the initial sum. He believed she possessed much more wealth. This was purely because she resided outside the country.
She clarified her actual circumstances. She works as a househelp in Cairo, earning roughly ₦230,000 per month. Her living arrangements are modest; she sleeps in the kitchen. Her personal belongings are also stored there.
Revealing Personal Financial Hardships
She recently finished repaying her travel sponsor. This left her with minimal savings.
The woman explained her plight directly. “I am the last of seven children,” she stated. “My brother’s wife needed hospital care. He asked for money. I sent ₦50,000. He then expected ₦500,000 to ₦1 million.” She expressed disbelief at his assumptions. “They think I just pick money from trees here. I am a househelp in Cairo. I sleep in the kitchen. My bags are there too. I just finished paying off my travel debt.”
