Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has clarified that his upcoming trip to Germany is strictly for official business and not for leisure.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the visit aims to strengthen the state’s partnership with construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. This move is part of his administration’s commitment to transparency, value-driven projects, and cost efficiency.
The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, provided further details. He stated that Governor Oborevwori, along with himself and the Technical Assistant to the Governor, will depart for Germany on Tuesday for a working visit.
Aniagwu explained, “The purpose of this visit is to strengthen our ongoing partnership with Julius Berger. His Excellency is known for his negotiation skills, and this trip will enable us to secure better deals and concessions that will benefit the state. The visit is not for leisure but part of the administration’s continuous efforts to enhance project delivery and ensure cost-effectiveness.”
He also referenced the state’s previous engagement with China, which resulted in the award of major contracts, including the ₦59 billion Agbor flyover and the ₦39 billion Otovwodo Junction, Ughelli flyover on the Warri–Patani Expressway.
Governor Oborevwori has also directed that all upcoming empowerment programmes, scheduled to begin next month, must be transparent and inclusive across the 25 local government areas.
