A purported terrorist commander has issued grave warnings against Nigeria. He vowed to target military officers and state governors. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also explicitly threatened. These statements follow recent school kidnappings in Kebbi and Niger states.
Militant Commander Defiantly Mentions Latest Abductions
The commander appeared in a video shared by an X user. He wore what resembled a Nigerian military jacket. In the video, he defiantly asserted responsibility for the group’s recent abductions of schoolchildren.
He asserted that the government has failed to safeguard its citizens. The commander then declared:
“Everyone has woken up. We kidnapped school students in Kebbi State and Niger State. Next time, we will be kidnapping Nigerian military officers and taking them to the forest.”
Explicit Warnings Targeting National Figures
He pointed to his military-style jacket. The purported commander declared:
“Look at the clothes I’m wearing — they belong to a soldier. Nigeria, in the days ahead, we will kidnap a governor, we will kidnap the President, and others.”
He emphasized that citizens cannot depend on authorities for safety. Instead, he urged Nigerians to seek divine intervention for their protection.
Spate of School Abductions
This video surfaces just days after a recent attack. Terrorists stormed St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School. This incident happened in Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State, on November 21.
Sources confirmed the assault. It occurred between 2 AM and 3 AM. Over 100 students and teachers were abducted during this attack.
Earlier Abduction in Kebbi State
The Niger State incident followed another abduction. Approximately 25 female students were taken. This occurred from Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State on November 16.
During that assault, one staff member was killed. A school guard sustained injuries. The attack happened early in the morning. Students were preparing for their daily routines at the time.
Communities Grapple with Terror
These repeated assaults have plunged communities into fear. Schools are now considered high-risk targets.
The militant concluded his video with a message to his social media followers, stating:
“No one among the big men can wipe your tears. We have woken up. I greet all of you on social media. Have a pleasant day.”
