The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has officially confirmed that Port Harcourt will host the Final 8 and Final 4 stages of the 2025 Nigeria Men’s Premier Basketball League.
This announcement was made in an official statement released on Monday by the federation’s secretary, Amina Amanchi, who quoted the NBBF Vice President, Babs Ogunade.
Ogunade stated that the federation has formally approved and granted hosting rights to the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club. The club has committed to delivering a world-class experience for all teams and fans involved.
Ogunade added, “The Rivers Hoopers have pledged to provide a standard venue, modern facilities, adequate security measures, medical services, and live online streaming of all matches.”
According to the NBBF, the Final 8 tournament is scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 3. All participating teams are expected to arrive in Port Harcourt by October 26.
Ogunade also mentioned that the club will provide transportation for teams and offer financial support and accommodation subsidies to participating teams.
The federation praised the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club for their readiness to host the event, describing this initiative as a significant contribution to the growth of basketball in Nigeria.
Ogunade reiterated that the NBBF will continue collaborating with clubs, sponsors, and state governments to ensure domestic competitions meet international standards.
The NBBF oversees the development, regulation, and organization of domestic leagues, including the Men’s Premier League and the Women’s League. It also manages the national teams: D’Tigers (men) and D’Tigress (women).
