A Nigerian military officer has issued a compelling plea. He urged all Boko Haram fighters to surrender unconditionally. Peace can only return when insurgents abandon violence. They must reintegrate into society.
He highlighted various opportunities available to reformers. These individuals can contribute positively to the nation. Opportunities exist for them.
“Everyone needs to join this effort,” he stated. “Boko Haram members should lay down arms.” They will then be accepted by the community. Rehabilitation programs are ready for them.
He further stressed that those who renounce their past actions can reach Nigeria’s highest positions. This includes the presidency. It is a real possibility.
According to him, continued violence wastes their potential. It also wastes their valuable time. There is a better path.
“A former Boko Haram member can lead this country,” he questioned. “They can hold any position. Why waste time when they can contribute?”
The military officer also called upon collaborators of the insurgents. They should quickly encourage surrender. Collective effort is crucial for national peace.
He warned that failure to reconcile prolongs conflict. It also creates instability. This must be avoided.
He explained that rehabilitation programs are available. Societal acceptance awaits those who repent. This ensures they can reintegrate. They can then build productive lives.
This approach can heal communities. It can restore areas affected by insurgency. Hope can be rekindled.
The officer emphasized that disarming is a national duty. It is not merely a personal choice. Nigeria needs collective commitment to end violence. This will bring peaceful coexistence.
“This is a call to action,” he declared to all insurgents. “Surrender your weapons.” Help us restore our peaceful coexistence. He urged immediate action for the nation’s sake.
