Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek has confirmed the club is ready to sell Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. The potential transfer could happen at any time.
Victor Osimhen played last season on loan at Galatasaray. He joined from Serie A giants Napoli. Osimhen was crucial in helping the Yellow and Reds secure their domestic double.
His impressive performances led to a permanent transfer this summer. Galatasaray secured the striker, fending off competition. Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal was also interested.
Ozbek explained the club’s strategy to GT Spor and Haberturk TV. “We knew Galatasaray would benefit from buying Osimhen,” he stated. “He is a player. We can sell him to another club anytime. This is due to his age and performance.”
Speculation suggests a potential move to Barcelona. The Spanish giants are reportedly monitoring Osimhen’s situation closely.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni Criticises Super Eagles’ Reliance on Osimhen
Meanwhile, former Nigerian international Yakubu Aiyegbeni has voiced criticism. He slammed the Super Eagles’ over-reliance on Osimhen. Aiyegbeni claims this factor cost the team a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on the Home Turf podcast, Aiyegbeni shared his views. “We have four other strikers,” he noted. “But only one truly delivers. Only one plays like a madman on the pitch. He is aggressive and angry when things go wrong.” Aiyegbeni continued, “We only have Osimhen. I believe the others are just content to be in the national team.”
