Remo Stars, the reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, are approaching Matchday 14 with renewed confidence. This optimism stems from encouraging news regarding midfielder Jabbar Malik’s fitness.
The energetic playmaker had to be carried off during Wednesday’s rescheduled fixture against Kano Pillars. However, his situation is now much better than initially feared.
Assistant coach Sulaiman Folarin confirmed that Malik’s injury is not serious. He expects the player to return in time for Sunday’s NPFL match against Barau FC.
“Malik will be better for the next game against Barau FC,” Folarin told the club’s media. “It is not a serious injury at all. He has played for a long time, so I believe it is tiredness or a muscle strain. He should be okay before our next game on Sunday.”
Remo Stars will host Barau FC at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta. They hope to build momentum after a mixed start to their campaign.
Meanwhile, Kun Khalifat has swiftly moved to stabilize their season. The club recently announced Emmanuel Osigwe as their new head coach.
The former Nigeria international steps into the role after the club parted ways with Obinna Uzoho. Uzoho’s exit followed a 1-1 home draw against Nasarawa United last week.
Osigwe will receive assistance from Chinedu Okonkwo. Okonkwo, a CAF B licence holder, has been involved in the club’s technical discussions for weeks. The new coaching duo begins their tenure immediately. Their first challenge comes this Sunday, away to Warri Wolves in Ozoro.
Kun Khalifat is experiencing its debut season in the NPFL. The team remains determined to overcome early struggles that have placed them at the lower end of the table.
