Nottingham Forest will face Liverpool without Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi due to a fresh injury setback. The setback comes just as the forward was regaining match fitness and form.
Awoniyi’s Injury Setback
Awoniyi recently impressed during Nottingham Forest’s 3-1 victory over Leeds United before the international break. His performance suggested a return to form after previous fitness struggles. Manager Sean Dyche confirmed the unfortunate development during his pre-Liverpool press conference.
“Taiwo was terrific when he came on,” Dyche stated. “Unfortunately, we’ve lost him with a bit of an injury. We’ll see how that settles down.” The Nigerian international has made just four Premier League appearances this season.
Aina’s Recovery Progress
In positive news for Forest, Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has resumed light training. This marks his first on-pitch activity since hamstring surgery in September. The 29-year-old sustained the injury during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
Aina exited that match after just ten minutes. Forest anticipates his return to full training soon. His comeback provides a timely boost for the team following their challenging start to the season.
