Nottingham Forest will travel to Liverpool without Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi after he suffered another injury setback. The forward’s absence comes just as he was regaining form in the squad.
Awoniyi recently impressed manager Sean Dyche with his sharp performance against Leeds United. His substitute appearance in the 3-1 victory had signaled a potential return to form.
Dyche confirmed the striker’s latest injury during his pre-match press conference. “Taiwo was terrific when he came on. Unfortunately, we’ve lost him with a bit of an injury,” the Forest manager stated.
The Nigerian international has made just four Premier League appearances this season. He’s been rebuilding fitness after previous physical challenges.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has returned to light training. This marks his first session since September hamstring surgery.
Aina sustained the injury during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa. He exited the match after just ten minutes of play.
Forest expects the 29-year-old to resume full training imminently. His return could provide stability as the team navigates a challenging season start.
