Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe represents Abia South. He stated that Nnamdi Kanu’s life sentence was not surprising. Kanu leads the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Abaribe revealed this on Thursday. The Federal High Court in Abuja convicted Kanu. He received a life sentence for terrorism charges.

Senator Abaribe: A Foreseeable Outcome
Uchenna Awom, his media adviser, issued a statement. The former Senate Minority Leader believes the judgment was a planned action. It seemed orchestrated against Kanu.
Abaribe noted a key factor. The Federal Government refused Kanu amnesty. This differs from offers to other national groups. This refusal made the verdict predictable.
Senator Abaribe highlighted a significant irony. Authorities initiated peace deals with terrorists in the North East and North West. They also granted amnesty to ex-militants in the South South. These groups received lucrative oil pipeline contracts. Such gestures were absent for Kanu. This suggests justice in Nigeria bypasses the South East.
He urged South East residents to maintain hope. They seek a Nigeria with equal and fair justice for everyone.
A Plea for Tranquility
Abaribe stated that many appeals were made. These sought a pardon from authorities. The goal was national unity and inclusion.
Abaribe emphasized the Igbo nation’s position. They must now rely on President Bola Tinubu. He hopes for a resolution.
He appealed to South East residents. All peace advocates should stay calm. They must avoid actions that worsen the situation.
He concluded with a wish. “May Nigeria find success,” he said. “May it thrive with justice, equity, and fairness.”
