Political commentator Reno Omokri has issued a stark warning. He advises Nigerians against supporting Peter Obi in the 2027 election. This follows Nnamdi Kanu’s recent life imprisonment sentence.
Omokri, a firm backer of President Bola Tinubu, shared his views. He posted these comments on his official X page.
He alleged that voting for Obi implies a presidential pardon for the IPOB leader. This applies regardless of Obi’s specific electoral role.
Omokri’s Warning Regarding Obi’s Candidacy
In his social media post, Omokri declared: “Voting for Peter Obi in 2027 means voting for Nnamdi Kanu’s presidential pardon!”
His statement sparked extensive online reactions. Nigerians are actively debating the political and legal implications.

Court Orders Kanu’s Protective Custody
Justice James Omotosho issued an order. Kanu must remain in protective custody. This follows his life imprisonment sentence.
The judge delivered the verdict after an hour-long session. Kanu was convicted on all terrorism charges. The DSS filed these on behalf of the Federal Government.
Life Sentence on Key Charges
Justice Omotosho explained the life imprisonment decision. It was chosen after appeals for mercy. This avoided the death penalty.
He stated that Kuje Prison might not be appropriate for Kanu. Therefore, Kanu should be held in any secure correctional facility nationwide.
Acts Declared as Terrorism
The court ruled that Kanu’s actions constituted terrorism. These included threats, killings, and repeated sit-at-home orders. Such acts occurred in the South-East region.
He also received additional concurrent sentences. These applied to counts three and seven.
