Team Nigeria delivered impressive performances at the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ogochukwu Ogili secured silver in women’s shot put, while Patience Okon-George advanced to the women’s 400m final.
Shot Put Success
Ogili achieved her podium finish with a 7.35m throw. She narrowly missed gold to Bahrain’s Rooba Alomari (7.39m). Saudi Arabia’s Nadha Alhumayolani took bronze with 6.13m.
This follows Obiageri Amaechi’s earlier silver in women’s discus. She threw 56.99m, finishing just behind Cameroon’s Nora Monie (57.04m).
Track Triumphs
Three-time national champion Patience Okon-George qualified for the 400m final. She clocked 52.92 seconds in her semi-final heat. Okon-George will face athletes from Morocco, Turkey, and Bahrain.
