Fulham has initiated discussions with manager Marco Silva regarding a new contract. The club aims to stabilize its Premier League performance.
Silva’s current contract concludes at the season’s end. The Fulham board hopes the Portuguese coach will commit his long-term future to Craven Cottage.
The 48-year-old manager expressed frustration over the club’s summer transfer activities. He accused officials of being “passive” before the Premier League began. Fulham ultimately spent approximately £40 million on five new players.
The team has endured a challenging start, currently sitting in 15th position. They are just one point above the relegation zone. Silva, who signed a three-year extension in 2023, guided the club to promotion in 2022. He has since maintained their top-flight status. His managerial work has drawn interest from other clubs. These include past links to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Philippe Clement Takes Charge at Norwich City
Meanwhile, Norwich City has appointed former Rangers boss Philippe Clement. This move aims to revitalize their struggling season.
The Belgian coach agreed to a three-and-a-half-year contract. This follows the club’s decision to sack Liam Manning. Manning’s dismissal occurred after a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on November 8.
The Canaries currently sit second from bottom in the Championship. They have accumulated nine points from 15 matches. They have also lost all eight of their home games this season. This includes both league and cup competitions.
“I’ve known this club for a long time,” Clement stated on the club website. He added, “Our current moment is not good. But we are excited to work with players and staff to turn things around.”
Clement also mentioned, “Meeting the owners and hearing their ambitions for the club truly convinced me.” He added, “I believe this is the best move.”
He concluded, “They have significant future plans. However, our immediate job is to reverse the current situation and restore belief among everyone.”
