John Ayebabomote Birakumo, a prominent APC member, has accused political adversaries of orchestrating Timipre Sylva’s EFCC investigation. This follows allegations linking the former Bayelsa governor to a coup plot against President Tinubu’s government. Sylva has firmly denied any involvement.
Birakumo defended Sylva in a Monday statement. He asserted the former minister faces political prosecution due to his influence. Sylva’s opponents reportedly fear his national political clout. This fear drives their legal targeting, Birakumo claimed.
Birakumo declared:
“We are raising awareness to alert Bayelsans and the entire APC family that Chief Timipre Sylva remains a committed and visionary leader.”
“We are undeterred by the politically motivated persecution of Chief Sylva. It is orchestrated by detractors fearing his monumental influence across the nation.”
“Chief Sylva is a true democrat and statesman. He has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s development.”
The statement comes amid ongoing EFCC investigations into the alleged coup plot.
