Authorities have refuted reports about an assassination attempt on Naval officer A.M. Yerima in Abuja. Lere Olayinka, aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, presented his version of events.
Initial reports surfaced Sunday about Yerima’s alleged escape from assassination. Nigerian Police officially denied these claims on Monday.
Olayinka shared his account of the incident. He stated:
“You operated a vehicle without license plates. The car had tinted windows.”
“Police stopped you at a checkpoint. You refused to lower your windows. After complying, you declined to identify yourself.”
“You contacted other naval officers while verbally abusing the policemen. Officers detained you until colleagues verified your identity.”
“You later claimed to escape assassination. Were the policemen who waited for verification your alleged assassins?”
“Did orders instruct you to use unregistered vehicles? Should you refuse police identification requests? Excessive social media praise creates problems.”
