PDP’s Turning Point in Ibadan
Governor Seyi Makinde expressed optimism about the PDP National Convention. He believes it will mark a positive change for the party. The event occurred on November 15-16 in Ibadan.
Makinde praised party members’ resilience. He noted their long struggle to reach this stage. The governor urged members to resist intimidation.
“We’ve fought a lengthy battle to get here,” Makinde told delegates. “By God’s grace, this convention will transform our party nationally.”
Makinde’s Welcome to Delegates
The Oyo State governor welcomed attendees to Ibadan. He encouraged them to enjoy local culture during the convention. Makinde specifically mentioned tasting regional dishes.
“Don’t just politick,” he advised. “Take time to enjoy amala and gbegiri in Ibadan.” His remarks highlighted the city’s hospitality.
Fintiri’s Call to Rescue Nigeria
Umaru Fintiri, Adamawa Governor and Convention Chairman, addressed Nigeria’s political climate. He stated Nigerians expect the PDP to lead the nation forward.
“Nigeria has reset to the pre-PDP era,” Fintiri observed. “Citizens look to us for rescue.” He emphasized the convention’s role in answering this call.
Despite high-profile departures, Fintiri maintained the party’s core remains strong. He invited former members to return, stressing unity is essential.
“Our fundamental tenets endure,” the chairman asserted. “We must reinvent ourselves with courage and democratic ideals.” He acknowledged recent obstacles but expressed confidence in PDP’s future.
