Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has terminated the appointment of a political adviser for openly violating directives against premature campaigning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs Peter Ahemba disclosed the dismissal during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Centre in Lafia. He stated the governor had repeatedly warned appointees against early political activities.
Zero Tolerance for Campaign Violations
The dismissed official, Arch. Ahmed Usman Seriki, served as Senior Special Adviser on Works. He was fired for publicly campaigning for former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar. Abubakar is reportedly considering a governorship bid.
“Governor Sule could not tolerate open defiance,” Ahemba emphasized. “The aide dared his principal by campaigning for a 2027 aspirant despite clear warnings.” The action underscores the administration’s focus on governance over political distractions.
Infrastructure Commitment Renewed
Separately, Ahemba announced the state’s commitment to completing Karu flyovers and an underpass before 2027. Federal approval was secured for two flyovers and one underpass in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.
“Funds were allocated before project conception,” Ahemba revealed. This aligns with the administration’s policy since 2019 of securing financing upfront to prevent abandoned projects. The Nasarawa State Urban Development Agency will conduct feasibility studies.
Enhanced Security Measures
The state government plans to acquire CCTV cameras and drones to combat kidnapping. New security strategies are being implemented across Nasarawa. Security agencies will collaborate with stakeholders to “flush out criminals,” Ahemba assured.
All ongoing projects will be completed before the administration’s term ends in 2027. The infrastructure developments aim to resolve chronic traffic along the busy Karu-Mararaba corridor.
