Burna Boy and Shakira Preview 2026 World Cup Halftime Show
Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy and Colombian pop icon Shakira have reunited ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show, sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their preparations.
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, posted a video on his X account on Friday, July 17, showing the duo embracing, laughing and exchanging smiles during rehearsals at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Spain will face Argentina in the final.
He captioned the clip: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”
The video, accompanied by several photos, captures the artists in casual attire sharing a warm hug outside the production trailers as final preparations intensify.
This year’s halftime show marks a significant shift from tradition, with FIFA extending the usual 15‑minute break to roughly 30 minutes to accommodate the performance alongside standard pundit analysis.
According to FIFA, the entertainment lineup also features BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus together with Coldplay, and appearances by Sesame Street and The Muppets characters, all aimed at promoting global education initiatives for children.
Burna Boy and Shakira are no strangers to the World Cup stage; they previously performed their song “Dai Dai” at the opening ceremony in Mexico City, where it was unveiled as the official anthem of the 2026 tournament.
