Sowore Demands Coroner’s Inquest into Mary Habila’s Death
The presidential candidate of the Action Alliance of Nigeria (AAN), Omoyele Sowore, has called for an immediate coroner’s inquest into the death of Mary Habila. He stressed that no burial should proceed until forensic experts have completed their examinations.
Calls for Delayed Burial Pending Forensic Examination
Sowore argued that the circumstances surrounding Habila’s death warrant an independent investigation before any funeral arrangements are made. He urged the relevant authorities to fulfil all legal requirements, including an autopsy if deemed necessary.
He said, “There MUST be a coroner’s inquest into the death of Mary Habila at the residence of Tinubu’s Minister of Works, David Umahi.”
Allegations of Unnatural Death Details
Sowore further alleged that Habila was found with blood flowing from her mouth, a detail he said points to an unnatural death. He urged investigators to conclude all forensic and investigative procedures before allowing any burial to take place.
Reference to Previous Unexplained Deaths Linked to Minister
Sowore also referenced earlier allegations of unexplained deaths involving individuals associated with the minister, notably the deaths of five NELAN engineers. He maintained that those cases, like Habila’s, deserve public scrutiny and transparent investigation.
He noted that previous deaths linked to persons connected with the minister remain unresolved, and called on authorities to ensure the circumstances surrounding Habila’s death are fully investigated.
