Introduction
A Nigerian man has ignited intense online discussion after revealing why he refuses to forgive his mother, claiming she secretly gathered his earnings for five years before casting him out.
The Hidden Salary Scheme
He explained that the situation started in 2015 when a friend of his mother assisted him in obtaining a position in Surulere, where his monthly wage amounted to ₦15,000.
Unbeknownst to him, his mother allegedly directed that friend to forward his paycheck straight to her.
Recounting the experience in Yoruba, he said:
“In 2015, my mother’s friend secured me a job in Surulere. My salary was ₦15,000 each month, but my mother instructed her associate to collect my wages for five years without informing me. She amassed a total of ₦900,000.”
Confrontation and Rejection
After a year on the job, he requested his earned wages but was repeatedly urged to keep working. Only later did he uncover the truth.
When he confronted his mother, the encounter worsened; she allegedly ordered him to leave her home and disowned him.
“When I questioned my mother about her secrecy, she told me to depart her residence and renounced me. I slept beneath a bridge for years until I rebuilt my life. People advise me to pardon her, but I will never forgive her. Never,” he added.
Online Reaction and Discussion
The narrative has provoked varied responses online; some encourage him to forgive and move forward, while others empathize with his enduring pain.
His heartfelt retelling has revived conversations about familial betrayal, the concept of forgiveness, and the long‑term consequences of parental actions.
