Chelsea delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, securing a 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in the Premier League.
The first half saw both teams struggling to find their rhythm, with few clear chances created. Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi had an early opportunity but sent his shot wide, while Chelsea’s Andrey Santos and Pedro Neto also came close before the break.
The game changed dramatically after halftime when manager Enzo Maresca made a triple substitution, bringing on Marc Guiu, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and Moisés Caicedo. The move immediately paid dividends.
In the 49th minute, young talent Josh Acheampong broke the deadlock with a powerful header from a cross by Neto. Just three minutes later, Chelsea doubled their lead when Reece James found Neto with a clever pass, and the forward calmly finished to make it 2-0.
Nottingham Forest tried to fight back. Neco Williams missed a clear chance inside the box, and Igor Jesus came even closer, striking the crossbar with a fierce shot. However, Chelsea maintained their composure and controlled possession to see out the game.
Reece James capped a strong individual performance by adding a third goal in the 84th minute, driving past the goalkeeper to seal a comfortable victory. The only setback for Chelsea came late when Malo Gusto received a second yellow card and was sent off, though it did little to affect the outcome.
