The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has announced that the party is preparing to formally welcome several new members in the coming week.
During a meeting with APC stakeholders in Jos, Plateau State, Yilwatda revealed that these new defectors include prominent figures who had previously left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and are now transitioning to the APC.
Yilwatda stated that these individuals have completed their necessary procedures and will be officially introduced as APC members next week.
He further indicated that another significant defector, who recently completed required formalities, will be unveiled shortly thereafter, noting that this individual had already been mentioned in recent news coverage.
Yilwatda emphasized that the APC operates as an inclusive political party where all members enjoy full rights and privileges from the moment they join, regardless of their previous political affiliations.
He explained: “The APC welcomes everyone. You don’t have to be a founding member to advance within the party. If you join today, you immediately become a full member with all associated rights and privileges. This principle is enshrined in our party’s constitution.”
This announcement comes amid a period of significant political realignment across Nigeria, with several prominent politicians changing party affiliations in recent weeks.
