APC Criticizes Dele Momodu's Political Advice as Ineffective and Misguided

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to recent comments made by veteran journalist and former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu. The APC described Momodu as a self-appointed strategic advisor to what they termed a “confused opposition.”

In a statement released by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the APC expressed amusement at Momodu’s suggestion that opposition parties should leverage ethnic and religious sentiments to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Oladejo stated that such tactics are outdated and ineffective against a performance-driven administration.

Momodu’s Advice Deemed Ineffective

Oladejo highlighted that Momodu’s political track record does not qualify him to offer strategic advice. He pointed out that Momodu has never won an election, not even at the councillorship level, making his advice on winning strategies fundamentally flawed. The APC spokesman urged Momodu to focus on finding his own political direction before attempting to guide others.

Nigerian Electorate Has Evolved

The statement emphasized that Nigerian voters are now more focused on governance and performance than on ethnic or religious affiliations. Oladejo stated, “Nigerians have evolved. They are now focused on who can deliver results, not who can divide the nation.”

He further noted that President Tinubu’s administration is built on a foundation of tangible development and national unity, making it impervious to divisive politics. The APC believes that any opposition strategy based on ethnicity or religion is doomed to fail.

Focus on Governance, Not Division

The APC’s response underscores a broader message to all political actors: the era of using ethnicity and religion as political tools is over. The party insists that the future of Nigerian politics depends on good governance, infrastructure development, and economic stability—not on divisive tactics.

Oladejo concluded by reminding Momodu and the opposition that President Tinubu’s record of service and achievement across Nigeria makes him a formidable candidate, regardless of the opposition’s strategy. The APC remains confident that performance will always trump identity politics.
